Archeologist Spends Nearly 40 Years Building Massive Scale Model Of Ancient Rome

This incredible plaster model of Ancient Rome known as the Plastico di Roma Imperiale was intricately designed by archeologist Italo Gismondi throughout his lifetime to depict what the ancient city looked like in the 4th century AD. The model is actually based on Rodolfo Lanciani‘s 1901 map but was expanded on by Gismondi into this 1:250 scale model through the 1950s and up to 1970. It’s housed at the Museum of Roman Civilization and has even been used in movies such as Gladiator. This Mile Long Wooden Xylophone Plays Bach When You Roll A Ball Down It

Have you ever seen a giant xylophone in the forest? Just kidding, of course, you haven’t! Well until now that is…. The Japanese adverting agency known as Drill Inc. built a giant wooden xylophone that’s roughly a mile long in the middle of a forest. Each wooden key is made up of individual notes, and when a wooden ball starts rolling down it, it plays Bach’s famous Cantata 147. And yeah, they did all of this for a cell phone commercial.
