Ahhh…paradise on earth. Tikehau (meaning Peaceful Landing in Tuamotuan) is a coral atoll that sits in the South Pacific Ocean located 211 miles northeast of Tahiti. It’s part of the Tuamotu Archipelago in French Polynesia which are just a chain of islands and atolls in the middle of the giant ocean. The peaceful island is home to approximately 300 permanent residents and plenty of fish.

Tikehau is considered to be one of the most beautiful atolls in Polynesia
The fragrance in the air is matched only by the abundance of life in the bright-blue water
The island is surrounded by friendly people and gardens
There won’t be any food shortages here either. Fish seem to outnumber the residents of Tikehau one-billion-to one
The oval shaped island stretches 16 miles long and is surrounded by a coral reef
About those fish…In 1987 Jacques Cousteau’s team of researchers declared Tikhau to contain the highest concentration and diversity of fish among all the atolls in the area
Understandably, Tikehau is a touristic destination popular for its pink sand beaches and its exceptional underwater animal life
This island if definitely bucket list worthy
The first recorded European to arrive to Tikehau was by the Russian mariner Otto von Kotzebue
The island has two resorts and a few village lodging options as well
I could definitely get used to this
