Remember those crazy burial pods we wrote about last year? This is something very similar. These urns called the Bios Urn, allows you or your loved one to become a tree after death by using 100% biodegradable materials such as coconut shell, compacted peat, and cellulose.
Most people are cremated and placed in urns, or buried in a coffin when they die. However, a new alternative to being buried is becoming a tree.
Built in two parts, the first part is comprised with a powder medium to allow for germination of the seed while the second part is the bottom cone where ashes are placed.
The urn works by allowing the seed to germinate separately from the ashes. It then starts the decomposition process. The tree roots are then strong enough to make contact with the ashes where they grow through the Bios Urn.
It comes ready to use and will never expire. You can also use it with old ashes by simply transferring the ashes into the urn. It’s also very accessible to many being priced at $145 as opposed to expensive headstones and burial costs. Bios Urn hopes to reintroduce humans to the natural circle of life.
