If you’re strapped for cash and need a quick way to cool down a room in your house this cool little DIY air conditioner from HouseholdHacker is exactly what you need.
Running an a/c unit during a hot summer can get expensive. Fixing a broken a/c can be expensive too. So, this handy, easy to build a/c unit is just what you need. Plus, you’ll be completely mind blown by how inexpensive it is to setup and how flawlessly it works.
We’re talking 8 bucks cheap. Altogether, the setup is $8 for a Styrofoam cooler and two dryer vents. Told you.
The only caveat is that if you don’t have a small portable fan lying around you will need to buy one, but don’t worry. They’re only like 10 bucks or so.
Trace around the vents
Trace around the fan. His is square, but a circular one will work fine as well
Use a knife to cut out the holes
Freeze some water bottle or ice packs to stick in
Once you do that, just pop the lid back on and turn your fan on
I made one, but I will actually be using it for backyard use around the pool and grilling out with family. What’s even better is filling it with ice and beer… BOOM!
You have a drink cooler and an AC. Let us know what you think and make sure to give this a share on Facebook before you go. (h/t MetaSpoon)
