These Guy’s Built The World’s First ‘True’ Jetpack That Uses Real Jet Engines

It doesn’t get much more futuristic than owning your very own jet pack. The device is worn on your back and is propelled by jets of escaping gases and sometimes, even water. This simple idea that emerged from 1920s science fiction is now a reality. JetPack Aviation recently introduced the JB-9 JETPACK claiming it’s the world’s only true JetPack. It’s a jet turbine powered backpack that takes off and lands vertically. Its small, lightweight design can be carried around easily by its pilot. The JetPack is capable of lifting the user thousands of feet above the ground quickly.

And here it is flying around New York

Did you know the first jet pack was developed in 1919 by the Russian inventor Aleksandr Fyodorovich Andreyev? Don’t forget to give this post a thumbs up and a share with your friends on Facebook before you go (h/t Reddit)
