Superheroes Reimagined as 16th Century Paintings

Can you imagine all of your favorite superheroes reimagined into 16th-century dukes and duchesses, prince and princesses? Sacha Goldberger did just that in his series titled Super Flemish.

The reimagined characters include the Hulk in royal attire, Superman, Darth Vader, and Snow White to name a few.

The project took Goldberger and a team of designers approximately two years to complete: a year a and half was dedicated to preparation and the rest was dedicated to retouching his images and creating prints.

Goldberger’s team consisted of five insanely awesome costume designers who made the outfits specifically for the shoot and twelve hair, make-up, and special effects artists.

“Lots of the job was done before and during the shoot,” says Goldberger. “Pierrick and Sebastian, my digital retouchers, helped me to get the precision and the perfection I was looking for in this series.”

The process was very surreal for Goldberger, “When you see the Hulk in front of you and you ask him to look romantic, it’s crazy.

The Joker was also very impressive. He endured three hours of make-up and started to act like Heath Ledger in the movie, ‘The Dark Knight.’”
