Artist Ramon Todo, who splits his time between Japan and Germany, brings today’s magnificent artwork to you in the form of rocks embedded with polished layers of glass. The materials used are far from being anything alike but that’s precisely Ramon’s intention.
The random pieces are comprised of obsidian, fossils, volcanic basalt, and old books. It makes for one extraordinary gallery, which you can view at EXPO Chicago next week. According to Beautiful Decay’s Genista Jurgens, “by inserting something alien into these pieces, Todo is effectively rewriting their history, and the place that these objects hold in the world.”
