Mental illnesses can be truly debilitating for those who suffer from any one of these life-sucking disorders.
Toby Allen, an artist based in the UK suffers from mental illness as well and decided to shed light on these issues by creating illustrations of mental illness monsters.
Each image is paired with a short guide that describes what each monster is capable of.
“The project originated from imagining my own anxieties as monsters and finding it to be a cathartic and healing process to draw them. It made them feel weaker and I was able to look at my own anxiety in a comical way.”
He said that hopefully his “Real Monsters” series will reveal a new perspective for those dealing with their illnesses.
