E-books are nowhere near as special as actual books are, arguably.
Although they’re a little more convenient, the design and effort that goes into actual books is meticulous and thoughtful, especially if they’re handcrafted like these ones are.
For some designers like Aniko Kolesnikova, creating elaborate book covers is a passion.
Beginning in 2009, the Latvian artist – who works under the name Mandarin Duck – has specialized in creating book cover fantasies that include dragons, birds, and nature all made of polymer.
Kolesnikova has generously shared her talents with us on YouTube where she teaches you how to design your very own bookbinder using polymer.
We’ve come a long way since the 5th and 8th centuries known for the earliest forms of bookbinding.
Some books were once bound with human skin! The oldest known book is St. Cuthbery Gospel from the 8th century.
