The World’s Heaviest Weight Is Used To Accurately Measure Big Forces

This is the world’s heaviest weight. And it isn’t heavy just to be heavy it has a significant purpose.

Weighing in at 1,000,000 pounds this incredible machine ensures planes don’t break apart, provides jets with required thrust, and even helps rockets reach their destination.

Located at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Washington D.C., Rick Seifarth and Ben Stein show a reporter what 1,000,000 pounds look like, the largest mass object ever calibrated, anywhere.

The machine is the only one of its kind in the world.

If you thought that was cool, check out the world’s roundest object.
