According to Skyandtelescope.com, astronomers estimate that the observable universe has more than 100 billion galaxies. The Milky Way houses nearly 300 billion stars and that isn’t representative of all galaxies in general. Massive stars are rare; astronomers must look very far from the Earth to find one.
This video gives us a scale of our planet, solar system and the largest known stars, many of which are thousands of light years away. It’s amazing to even slightly grasp the understanding of how large these stars actually are. It totally amazes me that these things are out there! You’re about to feel really small… LOL.
