Anamorphosis is a distorted projection or perspective requiring the viewer to use special devices or occupy a specific vantage point (or both) to reconstitute the image.
And no one does that better than Jonty Hurwitz, a London-based artist that has created these impressive sculptures.
They work by using their own reflections in a mirror shaped like a cylinder which helps to create the artistic effect.
He achieves this by first scanning a three-dimensional object and then uses computational software to generate new physical forms.
“Finding that line between art and science is the underlying motivator in my art life,” says Jonty. “At heart I’m an artist scientist archetype that loves projects and people. Each of the art works and ventures on this site represent a part of what I am.”
