Sculptor José Manuel Castro López of A Coruña, Spain is redefining the way we think of stone by reconfiguring their form to resemble that of soft clay. The sculptures by López are filled with twists, turns, waves and wrinkles to emulate a soft, putty-like surface that draws on Galician mythology.
“My relationship with the stone is not physical, but magical,” he told The Creators Project. “It recognizes me, it obeys me…we understand each other. My stones are not lifeless. They manifest themselves.”
