Did you know skating on thin ice produces some crazy sounds? Can you imagine what it would sound like if it did?
This small lake just outside of Stockholm, Sweden, consists of the thinnest most pristine black ice there is — and it turns out, it has a unique sound, too.
It takes a special kind of skater to glide over this ice given how thin the ice is. Mårten Ajne does just that in the video below effortlessly as a high-pitched, laser-like sound emits from the ice.
This type of ice skating is known as “wild ice skating” in Nordic countries where skaters scout for the thinnest black ice around.
