This isn’t your average haunted house… it’s honestly a walk through your worst nightmares, and by walk I mean gauntlet. Formerly located in San Diego, McKamey Manor is one of the most extreme and scariest haunted houses on the planet….. and that’s putting it lightly. Russ McKamey is the evil genius behind this haunted house… who along with his best friend and business partner Carol Schultz, started about 14 years ago.

Here are a few requirements you must pass to even be able to enter: you now must be 21 years of age (previously was 18), you’re required to sign a wavier, and a note from your doctor stating you’re both mentally and physically able to participate in the haunt. Only two people go in at a time, and get this… it can last anywhere from 4 – 7 hours.
The theme constantly changes, so each tour is different for every person. According to Russ, “there are four different locations, which have been streamlined for hardcore fans, determined to make it through. I consider the people who take part in these haunts as my friends because I research and spend time with them before they go on the haunt.”
Not only is it the scariest haunted house… but it’s also incredibly disturbing…. You have to sign a 10-page waiver agreeing to force-feeding, ice water dunking, head shaving, and being gagged and bound… not to mention a bunch of other crazy stuff.
Think you can make it through?? Well, good luck, because not only is the waiting list at 24,000 people…. but the entire haunted house just went on hiatus due to the amount of money it costs to run it. See the crazy part is that the haunted house is actually free (not kidding) and the only cost of admission was four cans, or a bag of dog food for McKamey’s greyhound rescue organization.
But don’t get upset just yet, thanks to a fan who offered McKamey her 10,000-square-foot commercial warehouse, and fan donation money…. McKamey Manor will be relocating to McLeansboro, Illinois, where it will be set to re-open sometime in fall of 2016. Bigger and better than ever….. if that’s even possible at this point.
