This Sea-Inspired Multilayered Table Lets You Peer Into The Depths Of The Ocean

What’s more soothing and deeply mysterious than the ocean? I mean, really. If the ocean isn’t exactly in your backyard but you’d like something to remind you of it every day, this ocean-inspired table design might just do the trick.

This table adds to Christopher Duffy’s latest collection from “Duffy London” which creates a perfect balance of wood and glass for an ultra mesmerizing illusion into the depths of the sea.

Using sculpted glass, wood, and Perspex, Duffy creates the deep geological rifts found beneath the ocean water to create the deep water illusion as your eyes peer down on the table and took nearly a year to perfect.

“I was looking into sheets of thick glass at my glass manufacturer’s factory and noticed how the material darkened as they added more layers – the same way the sea does as it deepens,” explained designer Christopher Duffy.

“I wanted to use this effect to replicate a real piece of the Earth’s sea bed. Like a mythical power had lifted a perfect rectangle straight from the Earth’s crust to use as his personal ornament.”
