A truly unsightly thing to see while walking on the street, until now.

Rather than allow the covers to sit on top of city pavement blandly, Japan has decided to add a little bit of pizzazz to their streets by introducing ornate, artistic and slightly bizarre art onto their manholes.

Each mural of art you see has a meaningful background story to it. An item that you would usually ignore, now demands your attention.
