If you’re anything like me you probably hate needles and cringe at the thought when you have to get some blood work done. Especially if you have veins that aren’t easily visible, or if a medical professional is having trouble getting the needle in one of your veins. So here’s a better solution… It’s called the VeinViewer, and it uses infrared light to show precisely where veins are located, taking the guesswork out of the process.
Developed by Memphis-based company Christie Medical Holdings, the device finds veins and projects them onto the arm in real time. The light can either be absorbed by the hemoglobin in the blood, or reflected back by the skin. It can also show more detailed patterns and help medical professionals locate the best place to put the needle.
Pretty cool huh?! Let us know what you think and make sure to give this post a share on Facebook before you go. (h/t Mental Floss)
