Guy Captures An Extremely Rare Volcanic Lightning Storm, And It’s Insanely Cool

Here is a phenomenon that is rarely seen and still misunderstood by scientists. A German photographer by the name of Marc Szeglat has captured the rare event. Sakurajima is an active volcano rising 3,665 ft above sea level.  The volcanic lightning storm takes place on the Japanese island of Kyushu and is also known as a “dirty thunderstorm” (the production of lightning in a volcanic plume).
